We begin the habitat assessment and restoration process by evaluating site characteristics and project requirements to ensure that adverse impacts are avoided or minimized, consistent with our clients’ needs. The feasibility of enhancement and mitigation options both on and off site are evaluated and we assess the ecology, geomorphology, hydrology, and biology of the site, as well as existing stresses on and disturbance of habitat. We then design appropriate mitigation, restoration, or enhancement to address current and potential future impacts. While we look for site-specific solutions, we also look at sites within a region or watershed to incorporate regional opportunities for enhancement and consider the regional objectives of the regulators. An important part of our service involves negotiating approval of the plan with the regulatory agencies.
