Endangered Species Act Compliance

The federal Endangered Species Act (ESA) and other state and local regulations place particular emphasis on threatened, endangered, and sensitive species when permitting new projects and evaluating impacts of ongoing activities. As more species are added to endangered species lists, clients will need more help in complying with the ESA, both to obtain project permits and to protect themselves against third-party lawsuits under Section 11 of the ESA.

AMEC Geomatrix helps clients comply with regulations by determining project impacts and developing appropriate impact avoidance or mitigation. We then determine the best courses of action, gather data, and draft scientifically-sound justifications for the proposed approach. We can then meet with the lead federal agency and negotiate on the client’s behalf as part of the informal or formal review process.
