Dredging and Sediment Management

Our scientists have been at the forefront of sediment characterization work since the late 1980s. We have led or participated in more than 30 sediment characterization studies since that time under various state and federal programs/laws, including PSDDA, MTCA, CERCLA, and RCRA. To fulfill the needs of our clients, AMEC Geomatrix personnel designed and developed specialized equipment:

  • MudMole™, a sediment corer which uses a unique and more effective square tube technology
  • MudMole Jr. a smaller portable version of the MudMole for collecting sediment from floodplains inaccessible to roads and boats
  • Vibracorer, a hydraulically-powered system for collecting sediments less than five feet long
  • Pontoon coring boat, a shallow-draft vessel, with generous deck space for crew and equipment that is easily trailered and launched at most site ramps
