AMEC Geomatrix incorporates a wide range of computational modeling methods and tools into its services. These methods and tools range from simple analytical models designed to represent an individual process in a well-defined system to numerical models designed to simulate interacting processes in complex environments. Natural and engineered systems we simulate using computational models include groundwater flow and solute transport, chemical reactions, atmospheric dispersion, surface water flow and solute transport, subsurface vapor flow and vapor intrusion, natural geologic systems, constructed earthworks, and multi-phase fluid flow. We have developed, calibrated, and applied computational models for national laboratories, water and wastewater agencies, oil, chemical, and aerospace industries, and counsel. Some of our models have been developed for use as regional water resource management tools, while others have been designed to support design or performance evaluation of structures or remediation measures or to analyze specific environmental, civil, atmospheric, or geologic conditions. We develop and apply computational models to support our clients permitting, resource management, and risk management functions. We are skilled at developing, calibrating, applying, and analyzing models for litigation support. We also provide critical review, troubleshooting, and refinement and optimization of models developed by others
We believe that a well-designed modeling project begins with a clear understanding of the modeling objectives and the amount and reliability of supporting data. A model should be no more complex than required for the project objectives or than supported by the available data. Selection of the appropriate modeling methods and tools also is essential. We have available many commercial computational model codes and pre-and post-processing packages. In addition, our engineers, geologists, and scientists have developed numerous utility programs to optimize a wide range of modeling tasks, to support specific analyses, and to integrate our computational modeling with database, GIS, and other capabilities.
