Why she came to AMEC Geomatrix :  I joined AMEC Geomatrix straight out of school, and left the company for just over a year to join another environmental consulting firm. I wanted to get a different experience.

What she found:  I found that other organizations don’t do things the way AMEC Geomatrix does. In particular, I missed being involved in decisions. AMEC Geomatrix makes decisions by committee—but in a good way, to make sure that all voices are heard. I definitely don’t want decisions just pushed down through the organization without my input. In turn I think that having this kind of open communications requires people throughout the organization to take personal responsibility to speak up and live up to their promises. I like working with people like that.

Also, you can’t beat the resources here. There are lots of very experienced people here—and they’re genuinely interested in helping—so on a complicated project you can get the insight you need very quickly. As a result, work at Geomatrix is diverse, and exciting—much more so than at other firms.

To sum it up, AMEC Geomatrix is the best of both worlds—a strong consensus oriented organization (similar to small firms) and a solid, very experienced, very broad based firm able to get and do very interesting, very exciting work. It’s a great combination.

Why he came to AMEC Geomatrix :  I had heard that AMEC Geomatrix was a very successful environmental consulting firm. Many people talked about AMEC Geomatrix having high quality projects and very knowledgeable staff. My advisor had worked with some AMEC Geomatrix employees on a project in Palo Alto, and was very impressed with AMEC Geomatrix’s quality of work.

What he found:  Whenever I have questions, people are always willing to help, which is great, especially for me, fresh out of school.

Why he came to AMEC Geomatrix :  I wanted a place where I felt I could grow and be successful—I wanted a place with a flat ownership structure.

What he found:  I’m thrilled to be a part of this company! What I found was absolutely as advertised. In addition, I found a place that was supportive and would really help me build my business—effectively, I’ve been allowed to be an entrepreneur within a larger support system. In particular, I’ve discovered that the corporate staff is incredibly helpful and very client focused—very different from what I’ve seen before.
